City reminds Cape residents to follow watering schedule

October 11, 2019

The city is reminding Cape Coral residents to follow the mandatory two-day watering schedule for irrigation. A lack of rainfall as Southwest Florida heads into the dry season is impacting the canal levels.

Cape Coral Code Compliance will be increasing enforcement efforts of the city's watering schedule during the dry season. There were 83 illegal watering cases last week, according to city officials. Canal levels are lower than normal for this time of year and conservation is important, officials stressed.

Setting automatic timers to water 20-30 minutes in each zone should provide adequate irrigation for residential lawns, city officials said. Hand watering also is allowed at any time. Residents who need help setting their timers can call 3-1-1, and the city may be able to provide assistance.
