To the editor:

Wow! Wow! WOW! A rousing round of applause to all the 60+ volunteers who worked so diligently and the 170+ business and individual donors who contributed so generously to make this year's Great Calusa Rubber Duck Race the greatest success yet! The final figures have not yet been tallied, but so far it appears this year's totals will be in the $30,000 range! Yahoo!

We appreciate C.W. Fudge Factory's participation in supplying the most delicious popcorn to Duck Race celebrants ... all enjoyed immensely.

A special thanks to Mango Tango Tropicals, Donkersloot Marine Inc., Heron AC, Alden Pines Country Club, Century 21 Team Shevlin, C.W. Fudge Factory, Pine Island Pizza, Low Key Tiki, Rustic Services, Inc., Honc Industries, Stearns Custom Builders, Bert's Bar & Seafood Grill, Chuck's Auto Repair Service, Tow Boat U.S Charlotte Harbor, Sutton & Associates Insurance, Estuary Science & Education, Beachouse Lodge and Dewey Duchaine of Allstate Aluminum for their sponsorship of the 2019 Duck Race t-shirts.

Owners and staff of Low Key Tiki receive a extra thanks for their community spirit, support and hustle while providing great food and outstanding service on Duck Day.

And what Duck Race would be complete without the glorious chanting of our auctioneer extraordinaire, Johnny Glisson, and our always entertaining emcee, Craig "The Snook Cowboy." Thanks is not praise enough for all that these fine volunteers do for our Island community each and every year.

It truly takes a community to raise the money each year to acquire, manage and preserve the lands on this island that have been entrusted to the care of the Calusa Land Trust and Preserve.

And a final salute and heartfelt thank you to all the wonderful Pine Islanders, snowbirds and visitors who so enthusiastically supported the Calusa Land Trust by buying Duck Race tickets, Super Duck tickets, shirts, hats and bidding on our many and varied items at the silent auction and live auction. And lest not forget the Spinning Duck Wheels! Laughter and shouts of glee resounded over the entire afternoon with many winners of prizes and home baked goods.

What a race! What a day! What a wonderful, giving community we live in ... this island paradise we all call home!

Already looking forward to seeing y'all next year!
