Rod Mazzoli opened Island Floors & Interiors Inc in 2002 and this year marks his 18th year serving the Pine Island community.

"I had purchased my house in Bokeelia in 1999," Mazzoli said. "Three years later I just happened to be driving by when I spotted a for rent sign in the window of this building. I gave the guy a call and rented the place."

Mazzoil was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, but has spent most of his life in Florida.

"I did return to South Jersey for school and college," Mazzoli said. "Then I went to work in Miami in the textile and apparel manufacturing business for 28 years. NAFTA put us out of business because we were All American Made with road forces all over the country."

Mazzoli decided to take some time off, relocated to Bokeelia in 1999, and went to work for a tile importer as a liaison-salesman.

"I did that for two years and learned a lot about the tile business," Mazzoli said. "When I noticed the for rent sign in the window I decided to open my own interior remodeling store.

"During the 18 years, we've been in the same location and done thousands and thousands of homes," Mazzoli said. "Our service area includes Pine Island and Matlacha as well as Cape Coral and the Burnt Store Marina area. We also do a lot of work on Sanibel, Cayo Costa, Captiva, North Captiva. I would say about 85 percent of my business is on Pine island and Matlacha."

Mazzoli employs in-house tile installers and master carpenters.

"We do everything in-house and don't farm out any work," Mazzoli said. "All of my people are masters of their respective trades."

Island Floors does home remodeling, tile, flooring, cabinetry, countertops and all levels of interior trim. They also carry full lines of quality ceramic and porcelain tile, travertine, marble, granite, wood floors and wall tiles.

"We've also always been involved in the community," Mazzoli said. "We've supported many island charities such as the Beacon of HOPE, Calusa Land Trust, Bobby Holloway Tournament and many others."

Mazzoli spearheaded the Matlacha Bridge Reef Project. The project was formed to turn a portion of the old Matlacha Bridge into an artificial reef.

"We located the reef at the borderline of Lee and Charlotte counties to create a reef close to shore," Mazzoli said.

"Island Floors' strength is our commitment to maintaining quality, price and service while providing unsurpassed service. I call it one-stop shopping" Mazzoli said.
