Veterans Day at the American Legion

More than 75 people gathered in the outdoor pavilion of the American Legion Post 136 Sunday morning to remember veterans. Following the Pledge of Allegiance, Commander Bob Miner welcomed everyone and requested a prayer from the chaplain.

"Courage is one of the virtues born of war the courage of individuals in the face of danger and the courage of nations to protect the weak and punish the aggressor," VFW Commander Austin White said.

The short ceremony was also attended by Brian and Stella Woods, are visiting Pine Island from Pennsylvania.

"I can't believe what goes on here for Veterans Day," Brian Woods said. "It looks like there's something going on every day."

The program concluded with a 21-gun salute and playing of "Taps."
