Free Community Thanksgiving to be held Sunday

The entire community is invited to a free Community Thanksgiving, a traditional Thanksgiving meal, on Sunday.

"We don't want anyone alone on the holidays," RE/MAX Realty Team owner Mike Hollows said. "I don't care who it is. If they show up they will be fed."

This is the fourth year RE/MAX is holding a Community Thanksgiving.

"We started it as a way to bring the community together a little bit differently," he said. "Everyone separates differences and eats together and honors our veterans that make it possible to do this every year."

This year the Community Thanksgiving will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Foundation, 4820 Leonard Street.

"This is the second year it is being hosted at the Veterans Museum," Hollow said.

The event has fed more than 1,500 people in three years.

Miceli's Restaurant is doing the preparation for the full traditional Thanksgiving meal. Years prior, Bubba's Roadhouse prepared the meal.

"We are able to do this for free for the community because of the involvement we have with a lot of the businesses in the community," he said.

Hollow said they will be serving food from 11 a.m. to "2ish" so everyone who wants to can attend the Veterans Day Parade from that point forward and truly honor the veterans.

"If there is still people there beyond 2 p.m. we will absolutely feed them," he said. "Come out and enjoy. Meet new people and maybe develop some friendships and bonds with people that you may not be able to interact with. Come and enjoy a great meal."
