Pine Island Eagle

Arthur William Kuehnemund, 87, of St. James City passed away Tuesday May 30, 2017 at Hope Hospice. He was born July 29, 1929 in Munger, Michigan to William and Frida Kuehnemund.

Arthur was a life long Michigan potato and sugar beet farmer until he moved to Florida in 1984. In 1985 he met and married Beverly Martin a realtor from St. James City.

Beverly passed away in 2009 after a short illness. Arthur worked for Lee County Parks and Recreation and retired after 10 years of service. He also sold and grew produce on Pine Island from 1988 until May just prior to his passing. He operated with Barbie Haszinger two permanent produce stands one in Bokeelia and one in St. James City. The stand in St. James City continues to operate by Barbie and was given to her by Arthur about 15 years ago. They were like two peas in a pod. Every Wednesday he and Barbie would travel together to Immokalee for a load of fresh produce to fill her stand for the week and to deliver to some 10 or so restaurants.
