This is a sneak peak at a couple of Persian mixes that will be available for adoption soon. We typically don't house Persians at the shelter because their short bronchial passage makes them extremely easy for them to get sick in a multi-cat environment. That said, they are in foster care and we will be accepting applications for them and their adoption will be by appointment. Although they are adorable, they are extremely high maintenance cats. You must be prepared for frequent grooming and weekly bathing. Because of their pushed-in face, the Persians' eyes have a tendency to tear especially when they are stressed. Washing beneath their eyes every day will help prevent tear stains. I don't want to discourage anyone from adopting Winter or her brother Garfield, only point out that keeping them happy and healthy is both a time and financial commitment. They are approximately a year and a half old and have not had the best home life thus far. If you are interested in changing that for them, call Helping Paws Animal Sanctuary at 239-283-9100. Just a reminder, our annual auction will be April 6 at The German American Club. You can purchase tickets online or at the shelter.
